Apple (AAPL - Free Report) is keeping no stone unturned to expand its Services business. The company’s recent launch of Apple Podcast Subscriptions for listeners in more than 170 countries is a step in that direction.

Apple’s Podcast Subscription service is expected to boost the iPhone-maker’s competitive position in the podcasting space against the likes of Spotify (SPOT - Free Report) as well as Alphabet’s (GOOGL - Free Report) Google podcasts and YouTube.
Per businessinsider.com, the number of U.S. podcast listeners will increase 16% year over year to 106.7 million. Moreover, 77.9 million people will listen to a podcast on a weekly basis, at least. The growing podcast listener base is likely to attract advertisers. Markedly, U.S. podcast spending is expected to surpass $1 billion this year and reach $1.61 billion by 2024.
